Volumetric Strain

Change in volume with respect to original volume when material is subjected to forces in all three directions is called ‘Volumetric Strain’.

  1. Great post on volumetric strain! It’s fascinating how materials deform under pressure, especially when you’re pushing the limits in engineering. Getting the physics right is crucial, particularly when you’re designing enclosures for electronics. I recently had to account for these exact stresses while using a PCB prototype service for a new sensor project. If the casing expands too much under load, it can easily compromise the internal connections. Understanding how volume changes impact the structural integrity of the build really makes all the difference. Keep up the excellent work; this technical breakdown was super helpful for my current project!
